Observation And Experimentation Of Observation - 1106 Words
Observation is both an act and a remark made about an issue of interest. It is the process of close monitoring of an occurrence for some given reasons, scientific or not. It is also the information gathered from the monitoring process. In any scientific study, certain steps have to be followed. There has to be observation/experimentation for any hypothesis to be formed and tested. It all starts from the experimentation stage where close observations are made. Scientists rely mostly on observation in its many forms in order to gain evidence during their studies. Nevertheless, the observational evidence is majorly theory laden. The anticipation is based on past theories such that their aim is to agree with a learnt theory or to reject it.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦If In any cases the observations are laden in any way, then there is a threat to science. Studies have shown that perception can be influenced by theories. The theories can therefore control the observation from the initi al stages up to the end. Once the perception is theory based rather than the real observation at hand, the attention to the process, how the observer comprehend the process and later interpret the results has an effect to the scientific process(science). The findings could be interpreted in the right and best way possible but their credibility depend on how the observations were collected. If they were biased, then their credibility is low and unreliable. Observation mainly involve ââ¬Å"seeingâ⬠. Certain theories need observational support to be scientifically accepted. Observational support is further applied when comparing two theories that might closely explain a similar topic. Scientists make conclusions based on what they see which is further influenced by on their beliefs. Despite that two people observing the same thing, their conclusions might vary. This makes it hard when deciding which theory is better, observation technique isnââ¬â¢t the better way. Its dependence on the observers perspective stand in the way of making the right choice. Certain observation statements are laden. Most of them are theory laden for instance ââ¬Å"ice melts in the sunâ⬠. Compare the Main Features of Peasant Society with Those of...
Culture has been used to signify the ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢pattern of life within a community-the regularly recurring activities and material and social arrangementsââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ of a specific group. A tribe consists of a unity of people by ties of descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions or adherence to the same leaders. There are two types of labels that can be given to a tribe. One of them is the mosaic view, which consists of small-scale of tribes located mainly in the tropical world, and these make up a type of mosaic cultures. This means in essence that every culture is very unique and has to be studied differently, hence mosaic (every part is different not common). The second view is the ladder type. This is madeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦However some tribes, for example The Mojave Indian Tribe prefer to trade surplus crops with coastal tribes for goods that they see as valuables, for instance; shells. Usually a tribe sometimes specializes in making an object or resource in surplus, other tribes who do not produce or have the skill to make it will be willing to trade for their surplus. Peasants are not exactly a class, as a peasant can be the owner of the land, whilst other serve land lords under their command of the land. Peasants are subsistence, which means that they produce enough to supply their own family. They are self- contained. They also thrive to produce surplus or produce cash-crops/specialised products to supply to outside economy (markets) as well. Therefore, contribute economically as producers and consumers into wider economic systems. One may take the Pottery production in Amatenango, Mexico; this pottery industry is only available in one region therefore nearly every person in the village produces pottery to supply the regions and its economy is based on the production itself. Another factor that must be taken into consideration when studying social relations is when a society goes beyond kinship relations in order to reinforce their status and maintain prestige of the kin. Trobriand tribes take part in the Kula. Is single sex education the better route to results? Could you imagine learning in a class full of the same sex as you? No? Me neither. Leonard sax says that he feels single sex education is the key to get results from secondary schools, i donââ¬â¢t think so. School is supposed to set you up for life so by segregating the sexes it isnââ¬â¢t preparing you for that because in reality who goes to an all ladies or all manââ¬â¢s work place? I agree with sax when he says boys develop differently but this is why mixing them with girls is good because then they learn from each other the girls give the boys a certain level of maturity and the boys give the girls an element of fun. So is this the reason to separate the two? I think not. Separating the sexes is probably one of the most ridiculous ideas Iââ¬â¢ve ever heard. We will write a custom essay sample on English essay for igcse or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page It has also become apparent after some thorough research that boys like a cooler temperature of classroom and girls like it warmer, but still this is not a reason to separate the genders. Again I raise my point that it does not apply in the world of work when the children get older and go onto get a job unfortunately they have to deal with the temperature because there wonââ¬â¢t be anything they can do about it. So why I ask, does Sax feel it appropriate to go into single sex education? To teach single gender classes you have to have gender modified teachers so that they can maintain and have the childrenââ¬â¢s best interests at heart this is neither practical nor realistic. There isnââ¬â¢t that many gender specific teachers around so normal mainstream teachers will have to go on the appropriate courses to learn about gender specific teaching in order to cater and apply gender appropriate skills, now tell me this is realistic? Precisely itââ¬â¢s not. I think saying that genders are bad influences on each other is in some ways true but in others a bit excessive. Genders learn from each other and it teaches them to get along with each other because again in the real world of work as much as they might not like it genders have to work together. I have raised this point a lot already but exposing genders to each other forms relationship and teaches them that actually they can work with each other when they go into a work place. Also by just going into single sex education the children may not want this forcing them to be worse when they get into the same sex school that they would attend. There are single sex schools around and it is optional and at the child and adults discretion weather they go there or not so it isnââ¬â¢t for Leonard sax or anyone else to decideà for them. Not only do boys and girls being in the same school educate each other about the sexes but it actually shows them a deeper insight around the opposite sex to them and see more behind ââ¬Å"immature boysâ⬠or ââ¬Å"attention seeking girlsâ⬠it makes them see that no matter what sex you are we are all human. So to conclude single sex school isnââ¬â¢t the greatest idea Iââ¬â¢ve ever heard and I certainly wonââ¬â¢t support it becau se I know the benefits of gender mixed schools are greater than those that arenââ¬â¢t.

Night of the Scorpion and Vultures Poem Comparison Essay Example
Night of the Scorpion and Vultures Poem Comparison Paper The two poems Night of the Scorpion and Vultures are both similar in several ways but the most obvious similarity is that both poems involve animals. Both poems also involve evil and love, Night of the Scorpion talking about the evil of a scorpions sting and a mothers love and Vultures talking about how evil creatures are able to love. In Night of the Scorpion, the speakers mother is stung by a scorpion and the local people try all sorts of bizarre and superstitious remedies. In this poem you feel some sympathy for the scorpion; it has been driven from its home by the rain and forced to take cover beneath a sack of rice. The scorpion is not being aggressive, it is not wandering through the house trying to find someone to sting, it is acting defensively because its hiding place has been disturbed. The vultures, however, seem a lot more sinister. They are seeking out corpses and gorging themselves on the flesh. Even though they are not being aggressive by attacking living animals, the fact that they are feasting on corpses makes you think of them as cowardly animals, waiting for another animal to kill something and then stealing the leftovers. Both of the animals act differently and therefore serve different purposes in their respective poems. In Night of the Scorpion, the scorpion causes pain to the speakers mother and it is this pain, and the people in the poems reactions to the pain, that is dealt with. In Vultures however, the vultures are used as metaphors to show that even evil things can love. Night of the Scorpion is a poem that deals mostly with someone elses pain, whereas the poem Vultures deals with a person who is causing pain. A comparing and contrasting paper about the work, lives and the impact Research
A comparing and contrasting about the work, lives and the impact on society of Kate Chopin and Winslow Homer - Research Paper Example However, the standard for a piece of work to qualify as art is the essence of aesthetics in the work. For instance, when a painter derives his imagination in the form of a painting, or an actor presents his work on a stage drama, or a writer consummates his feelings in the form of a story, these are all forms of art, and those producing such work with a sense of aesthetics are the artists. In this context, both Kate Chopin and Winslow Homer are distinguished artists in their respective fields with valuable contributions in the field. Kate Chopin was an American story writer and novelist, whose work consists of feminist elements. Her stories were targeted for almost all age groups, particularly for children, and were often published in magazines like the Atlantic Monthly and The Century Magazine. Her work led towards the attainment of the St Louis Walk of Fame Award for her diverse array of publications during the era (Tothe 1990). On the other hand, Winslow Homer was an American Landscape painter and also a printmaker. Working as a commercial illustrator, he eventually took up oil painting to produce studio work seeking advantage of the weight and density of the medium he was using. Later, he also utilized water colors for producing paintings and other studio works. One of his earliest works includes the painting of Prisoners from the front which was exhibited in Pari s. The main subject of interest was the life of the peasants and indulged into the marine themed paintings once he moved to Maine (Goodriche 1959). The greatest achievement of his work tends to be the commemorative stamp released by the US post office to honor his art. Though both the artists have immense contributions in the field of art during the initial phase of the twentieth century, yet their works differ to a large extent. On one hand where Chopin`s work focused on contemporary yet typical themes like
